About SI for this Course
Organic Chemistry is a very challenging subject, but it is definitely possible to master with lots of study and practice. The first couple weeks will cover terminology and nomenclature, and the remainder of the semester will be focused on reaction mechanisms and synthesis. With any O-Chem class, the goal is to understand the basic principles to apply them to any situation rather than working to memorize every piece of information.
Three 50-minute SI sessions will be held per week, with the goal of reviewing what was covered in lecture with lots of practice to help solidify the information. Each session will include a worksheet and/or one or more activities; I will post these worksheets to the website as well. I look forward to meeting all of you and sharing my interest in Organic Chemistry with everyone!
